Galería Yusto / Giner presents “Olímpico,” the new project by Yann Leto for ART021 Shanghai, which can be visited from November 9th to 12th, 2023, at booth E43 of the ART021 SHANGHAI CONTEMPORARY ART FAIR.

“Olympic” is the name of the new project by French artist Yann Leto, currently based between Madrid and Rome. A site specific project of original works for Yusto/Giner’s booth at the Art021 fair, Shanghai. This project displays an array of particular Olympic disciplines, recreated from the point of view of the painter, drawing parallels between art and the way we appreciate and reflect on social manifestations of diverse culture and temporary contexts.

Sport and Artistic creation, seemingly unrelated in its focus, share a fundamental connection in human expression. Both disciplines engage with passion and dedication by individuals that seek to push their limits and communicate emotion through their respective mediums. Constant practice, dedication to the craft, and the overcoming of obstacles are key elements in both disciplines.

It is essential to recognise that the relationship between art, athleticism, and politics is complex, and can vary depending on the political, social , and cultural context. The role and influence of these elements can have a major impact on society and public perception.

International Sporting events, like the Olympic games and the FIFA World Cup, are often used as platforms to showcase national superiority and reinforce a sense of identity and unity in a country.
