Arcata, California, 1978

Adam Parker Smith (Arcata, California, 1978) works across centuries and forms, moving between the canonical and the everyday. His practice has consistently explored classical sculpture through unexpected materials — such as resin, urethane, fiberglass and mylar — before incorporating Carrara marble into his production with the Crush series around 2022. He studied painting at the University of California, Santa Cruz, earned an MFA from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University, and attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 2008. In 2015 he received the New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship in Painting. His solo exhibitions include presentations at The Hole (New York), Ever Gold Projects (San Francisco) and Galería Curro (Guadalajara, Mexico). His work has been reviewed in The New York Times, Art in America, Forbes and Interview, among other publications. Parker Smith lives and works in Brooklyn.
