These series of Delusions are a depiction of the Reality Meltdown happening in the modern world. Everything has become two-dimensional, flattened out in the digital realm, and over explained. Pow’s work of fiction is every bit as real as what we read, but not obvious. Meaning is hidden in humour, mythology and fantastical scenarios of medieval feasts, mythical celebrations, demonic visitations and drunken stupors… in contemporary terms: they are struggles against authority, destructions of established systems, perversions of the self… The consumption of contemporary culture is represented by recurring figures of demonic, hybrid or mutant appearance, highlighted with bright colors that mark the artist’s style. Some of these scenes may look like nightmares, but they are “beautiful nightmares” that reflect the actions of human beings.
